📝 Expedition to the South Atlantic.
The South Atlantic Expeditionary Division arrived in Ushuaia at the end of September 1884 and made contact with Thomas Bridges, who was in charge of the Anglican mission that had been evangelizing and teaching English to the indigenous peoples of the area since 1863. Lasserre explained to Bridges what the Argentine government had ordered him to do, and Bridges readily accepted Argentine jurisdiction, advising Lasserre on the location for the construction of the sub-prefecture. On October 12, 1884, the construction of the sub-prefecture was completed, and the religious figures and officers signed the inauguration document, thus establishing Argentine sovereignty in peace.
